Moving: Behind the Scenes at Care.com

BLOG-The-MoveAfter a long snow-filled winter, we’re starting to see the first signs of the changing spring season here in the Boston area – and I know that things are changing all over the country. This is also the time of year when many families move, especially military families. On our newly launched military page, we’ve been hearing and sharing the stories of military families who are PCSing, or relocating, to their next installation. As I have been traveling around the country meeting military families, I can’t help but ask how they manage multiple moves with their families. The answers are varied – yes, they experience the same concerns about change, particularly with kids – but all their responses come down to this resolute belief: it isn’t easy, but it’s the military life. I’m always amazed by the stoicism and resilience of the military moms I meet.

I am also balancing a lot of changes, not only in the season, but I’m preparing for a life change by way of a big move. Ron and I have decided to either find a new home in our town or renovate our current house. My parents are starting to spend more of the year with us, and we want to make sure they will be comfortable with a first floor bedroom.  It’s both exciting and daunting at the same time. But I’m already prepared for the changes now that I’ve gone through a rapid office move just last week. The Care.com team moved our headquarters to a new, larger space! It’s only a building away from our old office, but it feels like a new world!

Do you find that the spring brings a feeling of change for you and your family? I thought it would be fun to share the photos of our move with you. Check out the inner-workings of Care.com:

I came to this blog the first time and find it very interesting and helpful. - Being a military wife and mother and never knowing if my husband is send to a war, must be difficult to take. To move again and again takes energy, but at the same time it is always a new beginning.
